Yes, a balloon for the fireplace. I'm on an energy savings kick. It's a Go Green initiative in our house, but the green is $. So, we live in an older house with three fireplaces. And we never use the fireplaces, and none of the fireplaces have doors... so heat just goes right up them. I can feel a breeze standing next to them. But we like how they look without fireplace doors.
But this year I decided there was no way I am going to pay for heat to go up the chimney.... so I started researching, and researching and reading.... and I found these crazy looking Fireplace Balloon Plugs. (Officially, they are called the Fireplace Draftstopper Fireplace Plug.)
So I bought two as a test. They just arrived and boy was it interesting getting it blown up and jammed up into the flue. But it really does seem to have sealed off the drafts! So to me, it's done its job already since I can't feel a breeze anymore! And the only thing you can see is the black pole holding it in place, and you can hardly see that!
